After about fourteen years worth of Family Law Industry imposed struggle (My older daughter were awarded to their mom in 1991, youngest - second marriage - to her mom in 1999) I've come to, among others, one very in-your-face realization: People who are unaffected, either by circumstances or choice, don't give a shit about the kids, and certainly not the Dads. In my pretty extensive experience in fighting the Family Law/Child Support Collection Industry I've come to this conclusion in concert with my "in-your-face realization, and it harkens back to the first ticket I got in my car when the judge told me "the best way to hurt a law abiding citizen is in the pocket book" I've never forgotten those words. All of that said, my strategy has changed to making taxpayers aware of the fact that there Form 1040's contribute to the salaries, medical benefits, paid vacation time, and pension to those employed by the Divorce Regime. So, below is what I share with tax payer advocacy groups, "think tanks", and journalists. Facts!
Please let me know your impressions. Some of these facts were gleaned by Dr. Baskerville others by Dr. Farrell. In any event, they live in my mind as my mantra when I communicate to people who may be able to voice a different perspective, as uneducated as they may be.

Fact 1: When minor children are involved in U.S. divorces, they are awarded to the mothers over 90% of the time.
Fact 2: The Federal Government funds two-thirds of the total cost of state (All 50) child support enforcement and case management - your 1040 Form. Those Federal funds never make their way into the lives of children of divorce or impoverished kids; among countless others, they pay the salary, medical benefits, paid vacation time, and pension of those employed, or retired from, the Child Support Collection Industry. Fact 3: There are over 8,000 men, in California alone, who are paying child support for children DNA evidence has proven they did not father; if the State were to emancipate those men from this egregious assignment, California risks losing the $55 million Federal Dollars it receives annually for it's child support collection efforts.
Fact 4: The only definitive Federally funded study ever conducted on the subject of child support showed that men pay between 83% and 90% of all court ordered child support. But, when those figures became apparent, Wayne Stanton, then head of the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement in D.C. had the study discontinued. In fact, a formal Freedom of Information Act submission was demanded simply to retrieve the study's data.
Fact 5: Arrears are assigned, not accrued, as child support is assigned.
Fact 6: People, many of them public "officials", despite any statements they make to the contrary, maintain a vested political, professional, and financial interest in creating as many single mother homes as possible, and the way that is facilitated is by removing fathers from the households, and lives, of their own children via court order.
Fact 7: Over 50% of all civil litigation in the U.S. involves divorce and custody.
Fact 8: Obviously, one can indeed be jailed in the U.S. for debt, and assigned debt at that.
